Dear Parent
SUMMER FAIR – SUNDAY 1 JULY
The Spring Fair organised for Saturday 24 March has been cancelled and instead we are going to hold a Summer Fair on Sunday 1 July. However, the Year 7 Easter Bonnet competition will still take place at the end of term, and there will be an Easter egg tombola at break time on Friday 23 March, with proceeds going towards the Rainbow Centre and St Catherine’s Hospice.
As I explained in Newsletter 4, I hope as many of you as possible will be able to support David Sessions, a Year 11 student who is running a half marathon on Saturday 24 March in aid of Ellie’s Fund. His route starts at Ravenscar Tea Rooms at 10am and finishes at Scarborough Spa at 12.30pm. I will be accompanying him for part of the route, along with other staff and students.
The Summer Fair on 1 July will be tied in with the Avon Netball Tournament and Family Fun Day that is being held at the school for the second year running. There will be stalls organised by the Avon team in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and our staff and students’ stalls will be in aid of the Rainbow Centre and St Catherine’s Hospice. We intend to have an ‘old-fashioned’ fair theme, with traditional stalls like ‘Beat the Goalie’, Hook-a-duck, and wet-sponge throwing at a (Head)teacher in the stocks! Food will also be served. Do please put this date in your diaries now and come along to enjoy all the fun of the fair! Further details will follow next term.
Yours sincerely
David Read
