The starting point
for each year group is based on a thematic approach. The following themes are explored
with year groups, although other themes are explored when relevant to the enhancement
of the students learning:
- Year 7 – Me & Myself, Entertainment and Animal Magic
- Year 8 – Food, Architecture, Seascape, Landscape
- Year 9 – The Figure, Ethnic Arts & Crafts, Issue Based Work, Natural forms.
"Creativity arises out of the tension between spontaneity and limitations, the latter
(like the river banks) forcing the spontaneity into the various forms which are
essential to the work of art or poem."

- Year 10 – Fastening Project
- Year 10 – Space & Form
- Year 11 – Art & Power
Students cover a breadth of elements over the course addressing all the assessment
objectives required by the AQA examination board. The course is unendorsed allowing
